Pupils at Walton Priory Middle School have completed the 100 Miles in May challenge, raising money for UHNM Charity while promoting fitness, teamwork and community spirit.

Throughout May, pupils from across the school took on the challenge of walking, running and staying active to reach 100 miles. Their efforts raised funds to support UHNM Charity and enhance care for patients across University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

To celebrate their achievement, members of the UHNM Charity team visited the school to present every participant with a personalised medal and explain how the money raised will support both UHNM Charity and the Children’s Department at the Trust.

Ms Houlton, Headteacher at Walton Priory Middle School, said: “The reason we continue to support UHNM Charity is because so many of our children and families use the facilities. Improving resources for the hospital helps to improve the experience they receive when they are there.”

The school has supported the challenge for the past four years, with pupils continuing to embrace the opportunity to stay active while giving back to their local community.

Sam Owen said: “It’s so important for young people to understand how important it is to give back to the community, so we combined this with keeping active, promoting fitness and encouraging togetherness.

“Our young people and their school have embraced this challenge over the last four years and thoroughly enjoy taking part.”

100 Miles in May encourages schools, businesses and individuals to get active while raising funds to help UHNM Charity provide equipment, projects and services that go beyond NHS funding, improving care and the experience of patients and their families across University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

A huge thank you to everyone at Walton Priory Middle School for taking part and making a difference.
