Laura Treasure has raised more than £3,000 for UHNM Charity after completing a 100km hike in memory of her friend, Shelley Mottershead.
Taking on the North Yorkshire Ultra Challenge, Laura trekked from Scarborough to Whitby and back, completing the route in 23 hours and beating her 24-hour target.
Laura chose to raise funds for UHNM Charity in recognition of the care Shelley received at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
She said: “Hiking 100km from Scarborough to Whitby and back again was spectacular, brutal but worthwhile.”
“I chose the event as I knew I would be pushed to my limits and wanted to take on something Shelley would be proud of.”
“The event will stay with me for the rest of my life, not only for the physical achievement, but because it raised money in memory of a very special person and for the charity who cared for her when she was most in need.”
Kelly Swindail, Senior Clinical Staff Nurse on Ward 230, said: “On behalf of everyone on Ward 230 at Royal Stoke University Hospital, we want to say a huge thank you for your incredible fundraising. Your generosity will directly improve comfort and care for future patients and their families.”
