A grateful patient has found a special way to thank the hospital teams who cared for her, organising a fundraising skydive to support patients at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

After receiving care from ICU Pod 2, Ward 223 and Mr Swami’s team at Royal Stoke University Hospital, Carron wanted to show her appreciation for the staff who had supported her throughout her treatment and recovery.

Her fundraising idea originally began with a simple goal of purchasing a new television for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), providing additional comfort and entertainment for patients during their stay.

However, Carron soon decided she wanted to give the teams greater flexibility to purchase the items they needed most, choosing to raise funds that could benefit patients across the departments.

To help make her fundraising plans a reality, Carron nominated her husband to take on a daring challenge, jumping out of a plane from 13,000 feet!

The skydive became a special way for Carron and her family to give something back to the teams who had made such a difference during her time in hospital.

The money raised will help provide additional equipment and items that can improve the experience of patients receiving care, including those undergoing heart and lung operations.

These charitable funds allow hospital teams to purchase items beyond those normally provided through NHS funding, helping to make hospital stays more comfortable for patients and their families.

UHNM Charity would like to thank Carron, her husband and everyone who supported their fundraising efforts.

Their generosity is a wonderful example of how grateful patients and their families can give something back to the teams who cared for them, helping UHNM Charity continue making a difference across its hospitals.
