A musician has brought fellow performers together for an evening of live music to support patients on Ward 117 at Royal Stoke.
Carl Locker, from the band The Dandelion Curse, organised the fundraising gig in Stone on 15 August 2026, with all proceeds going towards additional equipment for patients’ rooms on the ward.
The event saw Carl joined by other musicians to raise funds through UHNM Charity and show his appreciation for the ward team and the care they provide.
Carl said: “They do an amazing job, and all the staff who work here are the best of the best.”
His praise was matched by a warm thank you from Ward Manager Becky Wilson, who explained how the funds will be put to use.
Becky said: “We’re really grateful to Carl for having done this concert. It’s a really amazing thing to do, and we’re going to use the money to provide the patients with some extra equipment for their rooms.”
The donation will give the team the opportunity to provide those extras for patients, turning the efforts of local musicians and their supporters into practical support for the ward.
As well as raising money, the concert was a chance to bring people together through a shared love of music in support of a local hospital team.
Carl also had a simple message for anyone thinking about organising a fundraiser of their own. When asked whether he would encourage others to get involved, he said: “Definitely do it.”
Whether you’re part of a band, taking on a personal challenge or bringing friends and colleagues together, there are lots of ways to support UHNM Charity.
Thank you to Carl, all the musicians and everyone who supported the gig for helping make a difference to patients on Ward 117.
