A patient who has been receiving cancer treatment at Royal Stoke University Hospital has donated to Ward 202 to thank the team who supported him through one of the hardest times of his life.
Aju, who has been undergoing treatment for the past year, wanted to give something back after experiencing the care and compassion of staff across the ward.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Aju said life was turned upside down for both him and his family. Determined to give back, he took part in a fundraising event in Newcastle before donating the money to UHNM Charity to support Ward 202.
Aju said: “The care I’ve received from the doctors, nurses and everyone at the hospital has been amazing. They have supported me and my family through a very difficult time.
“When I was diagnosed with cancer, everything changed. But I realised I needed to keep fighting. Fundraising and making this donation was my way of giving something back to the hospital that has cared for me.
“I’m so happy to be able to support the charity. This is just the beginning and I hope to do much more in the future.”
The donation will help provide additional resources for patients on Ward 202, helping improve their experience during their stay.

It is because of the generosity of people taking part in charitable events that we can provide additional resources on the unit to benefit our patients and improve their experience. Without this thoughtfulness and kindness, we wouldn’t be able to provide these additional resources.”
