Congratulations to UHNM Clinical Nurse Educator Shirley Wallace has raised £1400 for the Trust’s Alcohol Liaison Team.
Shirley had her long locks lopped off to raise awareness and vital funds in memory of her late ex-husband.
Shirley said: “I am thrilled to have raised such a significant amount of money in support of the Alcohol Care Team.
“This funding means the team can focus on much-needed health promotion, and if they can help even one person make a positive change in their lifestyle, then cutting off my lovely hair was worth it.”
“I cannot thank all those who sponsored and donated enough; their generosity has been truly overwhelming.”
Sam Rowland, UHNM Alcohol Care Team Deputy Manager, said: “We are immensely grateful for the fundraising efforts from Shirley.
“Alcohol disorders cost the NHS £3.5 billion each year and the number of patients directly affected by their drinking is rising.
“With the funds Shirley has raised, the team can ensure that health promotion advice is displayed in the Emergency Department and outpatient areas. “This will ensure that patients are given information and support should they wish to make changes to their drinking behaviours.
“Thank you so much!”
