UHNM Charity funds inspiring wall murals at North Midlands Hand Centre

The North Midlands Hand Centre at County Hospital now features a fresh and inspiring atmosphere thanks to a unique collaboration between UHNM Charity and hospital staff.

Photographs captured by senior sister Julie Lehman are on display throughout the hand centre, featuring scenic locations in Staffordshire.

Angela Dilworth, Theatre Sister, said: “We wanted patients to feel relaxed and welcomed when they come to the hand centre. It can be an anxious time waiting to go into theatre, so the wall murals have made a fantastic improvement to the area.

“The feedback we have had from patients has been amazing. They love the murals.”

Julie gave the team a variety of images she had captured during countryside walks and holidays.

Julie Lehman, Senior Sister at County Theatres, said: “It is amazing to have my photographs made into wall murals around the Hand Centre. We looked at different artwork we could display on the walls, but a colleague suggested we use my images, which I was thrilled to do. It is brilliant to see them on display.

“On behalf of the team, I would like to thank UHNM Charity for their support on this project.”

Steve Rushton, Head of UHNM Charity, said: “The images the team have chosen are perfect for the Hand Centre. They look fantastic.

“We always want to support initiatives that make patients feel at ease and as comfortable as possible and think the wall murals support our aim to do this.”
