UHNM Charity Crowns its Star Bakers

Staff from across Royal Stoke and County hospitals put on their aprons and picked up their wooden spoons to show their support for the NHS as it celebrated its 74^th Birthday.

As part of the Big Tea 2022, staff from both hospitals participated in the UHNM Bake Off, celebrating the NHS and its 74 years of service.

The annual Big Tea event celebrates the work of the NHS, raising funds to support staff and patients and showing our gratitude to the hard working individuals helping our communities.

During the day’s celebrations, almost 30 hospital staff made and brought in cakes to be judged by UHNM Executives and raise funds to support UHNM staff, patients and volunteers through UHNM Charity.

UHNM Chief Executive Tracy Bullock said: “There’s some great things that I get to do in my career as a Chief Executive and doing the tasting for the UHNM bake off is one of those. As a true example of the dedicated support shown by NHS staff, the judges were thoroughly impressed by all of the efforts of all of the participants.”

Chief People Officer Ro Vaughan added: “The standard of baking has been excellent and we’ve had a lovely morning meeting our bakers and judging their bakes. The Bake Off has been great for staff morale, great for wellbeing and we hope to continue this tradition.”

The winners on the day were Jeanette Tipper from County Hospital and Lorraine Harris Royal Stoke Hospital taking home the titles of UHNM Bake Off Star Bakers for 2022.
