We'd like to say well done and thank you to UHNM's Bereavement and Midwifery teams for taking part in the Trentham Gardens 5k Park Run on Saturday 20 July.
All funds from the event are going towards the new UHNM Charity-supported Pregnancy and Baby Loss Contemplation Area at the Royal Stoke, a quiet outdoor area for bereaved parents to escape the clinical setting.
The proposal includes a statue of a Forget-Me-Not flower in an area at Royal Stoke University Hospital's Maternity Unit that can be accessed by family members and staff.
Organiser Rachael Ayre, Senior Bereavement Officer at UHNM said: “The run went well, the weather was kind and we saw a few familiar faces in the crowd which was really nice. We were joined by colleagues from Maternity who we work closely with, raising funds for the contemplation area in maternity was very meaningful to help give comfort to all the parents, we all enjoyed it
“We chose a parkrun because it’s something for everyone, people with different abilities who all ended up choosing to run, jog or walk. We even managed to get more donations on the day, which was fantastic, every donation helps and goes towards something for UHNM”
If you want to donate to the cause, which has so far raised an incredible £1,750 the JustGiving page is still open. As Rachael says, every donation helps.
