Student embarks on a mission to cycle 100 miles to for neurosurgery patients

Chris Doyle, a 17-year-old engineering student, has embarked on a mission to cycle 100 miles to raise money for Ward 228, Neurosurgery, at UHNM.

Chris cycled 33.4 miles over three days, finishing at noon at Burton Borough school in Newport on Thursday 18 July.

Chris said: “My mum has spent countless months in and out of the ward over the last few years and we have always been so well looked after.

"The staff have become like a second family. Sadly, we have seen other friends and even past teachers go through the need of Ward 228. This is why I have chosen to raise some money to help give something back to the staff and help make life a little easier for patients on the ward who are very unwell.

"Everyone’s support means so much to me and those who will benefit from your generosity and kindness. Thank you for everyone who has donated, helping us to make a positive impact.”
