We’re so proud of our amazing fundraiser Sian Owens, who smashed the Cardiff Half Marathon in a fantastic time of 2:21:27.
Sian ran her hometown half marathon for UHNM Charity in memory of her Nan who received end of life care at UHNM.
Reflecting on her race she told us: “My training for the race was good, I had a couple of little niggles but nothing that stopped me from running on the day. The race was definitely a lot harder than I thought, even with all the training I’d done. I went out a bit too fast in my first 10k which meant the last 11k was tough. But the atmosphere on the day was great, and so many people in the crowds cheered us all on which was really helpful.”
“I definitely enjoyed it, although I’m not sure I’d do it again anytime soon as my legs are so sore! I think the highlight for me was how many people came together to support both friends and strangers and how it truly felt like a supportive and encouraging crowd of people. I’m very pleased to have finished it, in a time that I’m happy with and having been able to raise money for UHNM Charity.”
