Pop up shop owner gets fundraising in the bag for UHNM Charity

Laura Nixon, ‘Keep it Local’ pop-up shop manager is looking to give back to UHNM Charity after her mum was diagnosed with cancer.

On 19 November, Laura will undergo a sponsored head shave to raise funds for UHNM Charity and the Cancer Centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital. She will also donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust.

Laura said "It's said that 1 in 2 of us will receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in our lives. This statistic hit home when my Mum became part of that 1 in 2.

On a seemingly ordinary Tuesday afternoon, our world was turned upside down with the news of my Mum’s cancer diagnosis, just five months shy of her retirement."

Laura who also runs the ‘Keep it Local’ artisan pop up shop in the Potteries Centre in Hanley, alongside her husband Andy and help from their son, Harry, will also be donating all profits made on a Tuesday from the café based within the store.
