Staff from across Sodexo have completed a ‘gruelling’ eight-hour fundraising cycling challenge at Royal Stoke.
Porters, domestics, supervisors and management all came together to cycle 30 minutes at a time for UHNM Charity.
Two exercise bikes were in constant use between 8am and 4pm on Friday in the main entrance mezzanine.
Chloe Jones, Recruitment Co-ordinator at Sodexo who organised the event said: “The day went incredibly well and I would like to thank colleagues who took part and everybody who came along to cheer them on. We had a great mix of staff, from porters and domestics right up to senior management, and it’s been fantastic for morale. Staff have been coming up in their breaks wanting to get involved which is brilliant.”
“As well as raising funds for UHNM Charity, we’ve also been raising awareness of the benefits of cycling to work and our cycle to work scheme.”
Scott Smith, Operational Trainer was one of the staff to take part in the fundraising challenge, cycling 45 minutes.
He said: “It was gruelling at the time but I managed to do it, and am glad a lot of colleagues have come along and done it too for a great cause.”
“It’s been a good day, lots of people walking past have been dropping in to see what was going on and show their support, and the fruits and snacks provided by the team have been great.”
