Paul Bentham Presents £771.85 to UHNM Charity After Marathon Fundraising for Children’s Oncology Unit

Paul Bentham from Stafford has presented a £771.85 cheque to UHNM Charity after completing the London Landmarks Half Marathon and his first ever full marathon at the Manchester Marathon in 2025, raising funds for the Children’s Oncology Unit.

Paul is a long standing supporter of the unit and took on both races in the same year to raise money for children receiving cancer care.

Paul said, “It was lovely to see Julie and the amazing staff nurses on the Oncology Unit for my cheque presentation, with funds raised from running the London Landmarks Half Marathon and the Manchester Marathon. Running for UHNM Charity gives me extra focus and drive, and it is my way of saying thank you to everyone who has kindly sponsored me.”

During his visit, Paul saw how previous donations have been used to improve the ward environment.

He said, “It was great to see the money being invested in new play resources, medical equipment, and colourful wall designs to help brighten children’s stays on the ward. I even got to try the massage chair in the playroom, which is a brilliant idea to help parents unwind.”

Paul also thanked the charity team for organising the presentation.

Children’s Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Julie Eaton said, “We would like to thank Paul for his ongoing and invaluable support. The children truly benefit from the equipment and resources we can purchase thanks to Paul’s generous fundraising.”

Paul is already preparing for his next challenge and will once again be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of UHNM Charity in 2026, with the team fully behind him.
