UHNM Charity are bowled over by the amazing Stone Cricket Club who have raised over £6,000 for NICU by holding a fundraising memorial cricket match
Lee James told us: “Each year the club holds a fundraising cricket match in memory of my brother Phil who sadly passed away nine years ago.”
“This year we held the event for UHNM Charity and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UHNM as a thank you for the care given to a baby girl called Elsie who lives at the top of my mum and dad’s street who was born 15 weeks early. She had amazing care and probably wouldn’t be here today if not for them.”
“The day was really good- weather was perfect, lots of people came down and we raised £6,101 which is a great amount for one day. This takes our total raised for charitable causes to £30,000 since Phil passed which we’re really proud of.”
“You can do anything to fundraise for UHNM Charity, from bake sales to car washes its easy and makes a big difference.”
Elsie’s mum Vicki Dolman added: “My husband and I had already decided to do something for UHNM Charity to thank NICU, so I signed up for the Cannock Chase Half Marathon in November. I then heard that the club really kindly wanted to do Phil’s match for NICU as well.
“We’re really grateful to everybody and are combining the money and hopefully giving NICU a nice big sum after both events.”
“It’s so important to fundraise for UHNM Charity as everybody knows somebody that’s been in hospital and received care.”
