UHNM Charity are thrilled to announce that the colleagues and friends of UHNM Fire Officer Pete Nicholls have raised an incredible £1,647 in his memory.
Teams from across UHNM joined together to complete a sponsored walk from Royal Stoke to County hospital, with the funds raised being donated to UHNM’s Cancer Services who cared for Pete and supported his family.
The 18 mile trek took the group six hours to complete.
Jessica Brownsword, Sustainability Manager who helped organise the walk said: “The walk is a tribute to our dear colleague Pete, who many colleagues knew through fire safety talks and training, with funds directed to our Cancer Services in recognition of the great work that they do.”
“The walkers were from areas right across UHNM but we all had that common purpose and were motivated on by our memories of Pete. Everyone had a story about him and that pushed us on. The route took us along the canal to Stone, then down the A34 and the back lanes to County. By the end of the walk we all struggled with blisters but we got each other through.”
“It was such a nice day and everyone involved would like to say thank you to everyone that supported us.”
