Kind-hearted primary school pupils donate care packages to cancer patients at University Hospitals of North Midlands.
The packages were put together by pupils from St Thomas Catholic Primary School and The Faber Catholic Primary School and contained items such as hand cream, fluffy socks and sweet treats.
The school contacted UHNM Charity after deciding to donate the packages as part of the school’s mental health initiative which helps to improve patient experience and think of other people.
Headteacher Lindsey Gidman, said: “The pupils have delivered care packages to the wards because we decided to do things for other people in line with our school initiative. To see the look on people’s faces and the joy the packages bring is a lovely feeling and a rewarding experience for the pupils.”
Ten-year-old pupil Harrison Snow said: “We put the packages all together so we could bring them to the patients. It’s nice to give them something while they are in hospital.”
Clare Espley, Junior Sister on ward 202, added: “It was lovely to welcome the pupils here on the ward delivering the kind packages. It will mean so much to our patients that they have been thought about and hopefully it will brighten their stay.”
