Local business raises £250 for UHNM Charity

Cardiology patients at Royal Stoke University Hospital are to benefit from improvements thanks to local business, Steelite.

During their annual ‘Give Something Back Christmas Countdown’ campaign, £250 was raised for UHNM Charity.

The campaign invites colleagues to nominate charities in the Stoke-on-Trent area that align with their four values: community regeneration, health and wellbeing, the elderly, or youth aspiration & education.

The nomination was made by Josie Onions after her dad, Kevin, suffered a cardiac arrest and was cared for on the cardiothoracic ward after a triple heart bypass.

Josie said: “If it wasn’t for the immense care from the doctors and nurses our family would have lost a loving father and grandfather had he not had such incredible care. The staff on the ward will always have a special place in our hearts.”

Kevin is now fit and healthy, and able to run around with his grandchildren and continue his passion for gardening.

Natasha Boulton, People Communications and Engagement Officer at Steelite, said: “It feels amazing to work for a business that will give back to the community and take into account special places for their employees.

“Steelite is a true example of a great organisation who gives back to their community.”
