To thank the staff on UHNM’s Respiratory Ward who became a ‘second family’ to her late sister Stacey, Kerry Nicholson from Biddulph organised a fundraising party at her local cricket club.
The party raised an incredible £3,000, and earlier this week Kerry was able to visit staff on the ward and present her cheque.
She said: “Stacey suffered with Cystic Fibrosis. She had a double lung transplant which went really well, but unfortunately caught a bug which couldn’t be rectified and she sadly passed away last August. The staff are like her second family, she’s grown up with a lot of them- a lot of them came to her wedding, and her funeral. I wanted to give something back as a thank you so organised a fundraising party for UHNM Charity.”
Matron Tracy Mellor said: “We got to know Stacey very well, she was Disney mad and we had some fun. We all miss her but with this money we will be buying something to improve patient care and experience that will remind us all of Stacey.”
