Hospital worker Lorraine wins bathroom makeover competition worth over £5,000

A member of hospital staff from Royal Stoke is the proud owner of a brand-new fitted bathroom after winning a UHNM Charity competition.

Lorraine Kearns’ name was randomly chosen from over 1,600 entrants to the online competition at the beginning of the year.

Now Lorraine from Porthill is enjoying her fully-fitted bathroom courtesy of Tile Central UK worth over £5,000.

Lorraine, who works in Children’s Outpatients at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) said: “It meant everything. My previous bathroom was really old and quite embarrassing, so to think it was going to be done for free because I’ve won the competition at work is amazing - I couldn’t wish for anything more.

“UHNM Charity has done brilliant things, I see all the time from the intranet at work all the stuff they do to for our patients. For a member of staff to win this completion from the charity is just brilliant. You read about other people winning and you’re really happy for them, but when it’s you and the shoe’s on the other foot it’s like wow, I now know how other people feel when they win something.”

The prize of a bathroom suite comprising of a bath, shower, sink, toilet, flooring, wall tiling and installation was provided by Stoke-on-Trent business Tile Central UK.

I couldn’t recommend them enough, from going to their showroom to choose the stuff to supplying everything and fitting it, it was just a first-class service.”
