Hospital staff raise more than £1,300 for UHNM Charity

Generous staff at University Hospitals of North Midlands have come together to raise more than £1,300 for UHNM Charity by organising a charity raffle.

Staff from the cancer centre donated prizes and promoted the event to raise funds for items for the holistic cancer centre to help support patients and enhance their wellbeing across the Trust.

Kirsty Hall, Senior Clinical Support Worker, said: “UHNM Charity supports projects that make a real difference for patients and our fellow staff, so it’s a cause close to all our hearts.

“The raffle we held last year was a huge success, so we decided to do another one this year.  Our patients have been so generous and donated lots of prizes along with staff donating different items too.

“We are so happy to have surpassed last year’s total, we know the money will go towards improving patient care.”

Patients also donated prizes including gift hampers and vouchers in support of the charity raffle.

Dr Apurna Jegannathen, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at UHNM, said: “It’s been amazing to see the patient and staff engagement towards the charitable Easter raffle this year, to enable us to support the new holistic cancer centre.

“I am so proud of my team who have embraced and supported the holistic needs of cancer patients. We look forward to doing more fundraising to bring relaxation facilities to the new holistic build a place to visit by patients and families when awaiting treatment or feeling positive when low!

“It’s amazing to see our hospital teams coming together in this way. Every pound raised helps us go the extra mile for patients and colleagues. We’re so grateful for their support.”
