UHNM Charity are appealing to local businesses and organisations to help them make this an egg-stra special Easter for local NHS patients and staff.
The hospital charity has launched its ‘Eggs for Beds’ campaign, with the aim of providing a crème egg for every inpatient and member of University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) and Sodexo staff working this Easter Sunday.
So far just over 2,000 crème eggs have been pledged to the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford by supporters including Stoke City Football Club, the Stoke City Community Trust, Foodhub, LD Property and PREM Management.
Steve Rushton, Head of UHNM Charity said: “We want to give a little chocolate treat this Easter to as many people as possible who might not of otherwise got one. The aim of this appeal is to collect enough crème eggs so every inpatient and member of UHNM staff knows somebody out there is thinking of them or is grateful for the work they are doing.
“We’ve have a fantastic response already from our amazing supporters but still have some way to go to ensure everyone we want to receive an egg gets one. We are calling on local businesses and organisations to help us put a smile on people’s faces this Easter.”
Adrian Hurst, Head of Community at the Stoke City Community Trust added: “Stoke City Football Club and the Stoke City Community Trust are delighted to be working in partnership with Foodhub, to provide patients and staff with a chocolate treat on Easter Sunday, in recognition of the hard work UHNM colleagues do day in, day out and to put a smile on patients faces who find themselves in Hospital during Easter.”
