Family return to ward 124 to say thank you for their ‘outstanding’ care

A daughter has raised more than £1300 for Ward 124 to say thank you for the outstanding care her dad received during his treatment at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Elise Davies, 33, who owns a boutique in Stoke, held a raffle and sold hand-painted pebbles to her customers for a donation.

Elise said: “I am so happy with the amount we have raised for Ward 124. The raffle was a fantastic success. Everyone was so supportive, which was amazing. We are looking to raise more funds in the future, to help with patient care.”

Her dad, Alan Riley, 70, was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2017 and received treatment and care from ward 124 when he underwent two biopsies due to being in kidney rejection. Alan has recently received a Kidney transplant and is now recovering.

Elise added: “The aftercare and kindness of the nurses on ward 124 has been outstanding. They help look after so many patients and I wanted to raise money to help the ward to purchase what they need.
“We are forever grateful to all the transplant teams, consultants, ward 124 and all the nurses for their hard work and dedication in their roles at Royal Stoke.”

Elise and her dad have now thanked staff at Royal Stoke for their care and presented a cheque to members of the Hospital’s Charity Team.

Kirsty Meredith, Ward Manager on ward 124, said: “We would like to thank Alan and his lovely daughter Elsie for the generous donation received today on Ward 124.

“Our renal patients are the priority of what we do, and this donation will be used effectively for our patients’ benefit.”
