Day Case Unit transformed by Charity funded skylight

Patients visiting the Day Case Unit at County Hospital in Stafford can now enjoy a brighter, more welcoming environment thanks to the installation of a skylight funded by UHNM Charity.

The skylight features an LED lit ceiling tile featuring natural sky scenes which introduces natural light into the nurse station area.

The aim of the skylight is to reduce patient anxiety, create a calming atmosphere, and improve the overall care experience for patients and staff.

Julie Williams, Day Case Unit Senior Sister, said: “We are so pleased with the skylight, and I am very grateful that this project was funded by UHNM Charity. The team explored ideas to improve the lighting, and this led to the suggestion of installing a skylight.

“It has made a big difference to the area and has positively impacted both patient and staff well-being.”

Lisa Thomson, UHNM Charity Director, said: “This project is a perfect example of how charitable donations go beyond the basics of healthcare and help enhance the patient experience in truly meaningful ways. We’re proud to support the Day Case Unit with this improvement and thank every supporter who helped make it possible.”
