Dance troupe raise money to improve patient experience of cancer patients

Cancer patients at University Hospitals of North Midlands are to benefit from improvements thanks to a kind-hearted team of dancers.

Members of dancing troupe Mid Cheshire Independent Adjudicating Panel (MCIAP) raised £1,000 for UHNM Charity during their annual charity day.

The nomination was raised by panel Secretary Diane Nixon in memory of her husband Alan and in recognition for the care provided to him during his treatment on Ward 202 at Royal stoke University Hospital.

Diane said: “Alan’s chemotherapy treatment was long and gruelling with his first cycle taking no less than 12 hours and fortnightly sessions thereafter. We both commented at every session how hard the staff worked, often taking their breaks late because their care for patients came first.

“Nominating the chemo department as a recipient of one of our charity donations, was mine and more importantly, Alan’s way of thanking the staff for their caring and professional dedication, at what is for many, a very stressful and sad time.”

Mel Mountford, Head of Nursing in Network Division and a member of MCIAP said: “We are very grateful for this donation and for the many other donations raised by the MCIAP panel and their dance teams and would like to thank and recognise the hard work, dedication and generosity of all involved both now and over the many successful years.

“Alan was a real gentleman and a key figure within the panel and is sadly missed by all associated with MCIAP, we would like to thank Diane and the MCIAP team for thinking of UHNM during this very sad time.”
