Colleagues from UHNM's Bereavement and Midwifery teams have laced up their trainers and raised almost £2,500 for the Forget-Me-Not Suite at Royal Stoke by completing the Trentham Gardens Parkrun.
The teams smashed their original target of £2,000 for UHNM Charity by taking part in the 5k run back in July.
Funds from the run will help towards the new UHNM Charity-supported Pregnancy and Baby Loss Contemplation Area at the Royal Stoke, a quiet outdoor area for bereaved parents to escape the clinical setting.
The proposal includes a statue of a Forget-Me-Not flower in an area at Royal Stoke University Hospital's Maternity Unit that can be accessed by family members and staff.
Organiser Rachael Ayre, Senior Bereavement Officer at UHNM said: “The run went well, the weather was kind and we saw a few familiar faces in the crowd which was really nice and we were joined by colleagues from Maternity who we work closely with. Raising funds for the contemplation area in Maternity was very meaningful to help give comfort to all the parents, and we all enjoyed it.
“We chose a parkrun because it’s something for everyone, people with different abilities who all ended up choosing to run, jog or walk. We even managed to get more donations on the day, which was fantastic, every donation helps and goes towards something for UHNM.”
