Audley & District Football Club supports NICU at UHNM

Audley & District Football Club has chosen to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital following their annual beer festival. The club hosts the event each year to raise funds for the fourteen teams they run, from under-7s through to open age. A percentage of the festival’s income is always donated to a local charity or cause.

This year, the decision to support NICU was a personal one. The Chairman’s grandson was born eight weeks premature and spent his first four weeks receiving care on the unit. The family wanted to recognise the staff who looked after him and to give something back to the service that supported them during such a difficult time.

Richard Platt, Club Chairperson, said, “This year, we decided that the football club would donate to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. This decision was deeply personal, as the club Chairman’s grandson was born eight weeks premature and spent his first four weeks in the NICU. It felt fitting to support the unit as a gesture of appreciation and recognition for the dedication and magnificent work they do, nursing and caring for babies and their families every day.”

The donation will support ongoing work within the unit, helping staff continue to care for premature and unwell babies and their families.
